Shrimp Cakes

Shrimp Cakes

Hi everyone! We are back with another amazing recipe idea that will sneak fish or seafood into the diet of people who claim to absolutely hate both of these amazing sources of protein and nutrients. So you are probably asking yourself “oh god what does he have in mind this time?” Well rather than having to buy expensive crab meat or even imitation crab meat in order to make crab cakes whenever you want so in order to get pretty much the same experience while saving a few dollars and or whatever could be in imitation crab meat, we are going to make Shrimp Cakes because well, who doesn’t love cake, right?

Let’s take a look at what you’ll need:

  • 1 pound raw or precooked shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red bell pepper
  • 3 tablespoons sliced chives plus more for garnish
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • Optional: sour cream and lemon wedges for serving

So let’s start by either chopping up your shrimp or using a food processor to cut your shrimp into small chunks but make sure you do not in any way grind your shrimp into a paste. Fun fact, you can use really any shrimp you'd like for this recipe so click here to check out everything we have to offer!

Move your shrimp into a large bowl and add your Panko breadcrumbs, red bell pepper, chives, salt, pepper, eggs, and lemon zest. Combine this gently until it becomes a nice cake batter. Form your batter into equally sized patties .

Next up, preheat your olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add in your patties in a single layer. Cook for about 4-5 minutes turning them over half way through cooking. Cook until golden brown on both sides and serve immediately.

These little Shrimp Cakes are perfect as either the main course or as a delicious finger food/snack. As always let us know if you enjoyed this delicious recipe and of course, let us know if you made any kind of changes to the recipe so we can try it out for ourselves!
