Bonaventure's Beer Barbecue Sauce

To celebrate International Beer day, we would like to take this opportunity to show off how beer can be used for more than just casual drinking or wild parties! Below you’ll find our recipe for a super easy to make barbecue sauce that uses Beer of all things! Use it on ribs, pulled pork, chicken and even burgers!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of beer (we used a red ale)

  • 1 cup of Onions (diced)

  • 1 tablespoon of Vegetable Oil

  • 2 cups of Ketchup

  • 2 tablespoons of Red Wine Vinegar

  • 4 tablespoons of Brown Sugar

  • 2 tablespoons of Molasses 

  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire Sauce

  • 1/2 teaspoon of Garlic Powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon of Black Pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon of Salt

  • 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper (to taste)


Steps:

1. In a large saucepan, Sauté onions in vegetable oil

2. Add all other ingredients into the saucepan and bring to a simmer

3. Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer for roughly 20-30 minutes until sauce has thickened and reduced

4. Your sauce is ready to be enjoyed and put on anything and everything!
